Sustainable Building Updates at Fish Singer Place in Seattle

By, Adrian Willanger

Seattle, Wa. July 10, 2010-The site harvest trees that were cleared from the Fish Singer Place building site a year ago have returned and are being installed as finished flooring. The first house should be completed by the end of the week and ready for the first sanding on Monday. It doesn’t get much greener, sourcing your own material and having it turned into a finished product all within a 100 mile radius.

All the homes will have polished concrete on the main floors, this week the final two sandings will be completed for a total of seven all together.
This morning the team from A & R Solar is onsite at Fish Singer Place installing a flat plate thermal solar panel. The panel works to preheat the hot water which helps to reduce energy cost and a substantial savings on energy bills.

A mid-week on-site class on Low-Impact Development and Stomwater Management will be taught by Patty Moriarty of Native Growth. This is quite exciting as Moriarty will be discussing how low impact strategies and techniques can work to both lower utility bills and lessen our impact on nature and wildlife. Her classes usually sell out, following the class lunch and a guided tour of Fish Singer Place take place.

All homes at Fish Singer Place are 5-star Built Green and the community is certified as a “Built-Green Community.”
Homes at Fish Singer Place are now available for presale priced from $638,000-$788,000 for more information contact Martha Rose Construction at 206 406-4395.
